Meet Tim

Tim developed a passion for gardening from both his parents and grandparents, who were lucky enough to have large mature gardens with fruit trees and space to grow vegetables. As a teenager, he worked as a gardener on a casual basis, helping local estate owners to maintain their land in West Berkshire. After graduating from University and living in London and Tokyo, Tim settled in a small town to the west of Paris where he worked with an experienced Horticulturalist and Arborist for several years. He moved to North Yorkshire in 2019 and set up Spruce Gardens.

Meet Salty

Salty the Dog is always keen to meet new clients! He can’t wait to escape the confines of the van and have a run about. He’s great with children and very well behaved; unless there are pheasants, rabbits or chickens in the vicinity, in which case he will have to wait for lunchtime walkies on the lead! He was born in France but speaks fluent English, although sometimes he pretends not to. As a gardener’s assistant, he’s not great at pruning but can dig a decent sized hole in no time at all.

Meet Bertie

Bertie is a real character! It takes him a few minutes to warm to strangers, but once he’s vetted you, he won’t leave you alone! He’s a lanky fellow who needs lots of exercise but he’s also happy lounging in the van between jobs. He’s great with children and is incredibly obedient, on or off the lead; although I have caught him digging up a newly planted shrub… turns out the bonemeal we use for planting is irresistible!
